Isola Comacina is the only island on the lake, lying a few dozen metres off the western shore, whitin the municipality of Ossuccio.

A minuscole area of wooded land with a history which is extraordinarily eventful for its 2-kilometre perimeter.

If you enjoy stories which blend reality with mystery, you should visit the island and land at the Inn where you can hear tales of barbarian raids, Longobard kings and dukes who hid fabulous treasures here, the schismatic bishop Agrippino who ruled the island and the ten-year war between Como and Milan.

You can hear how Federico Barbarossa conquered and sacked the island causing the islanders to flee to Varenna.

Today the island is one of the major archeological sites in lombardy and is known as the "medieval Larian Pompeii".

Come and explore it: there's enough mystery here and no lack of legends complete with millenary curses.
