Perhaps it's because of its position at the intersection of the main road to Lake Lugano, or perhaps because it has developed more recently, but Menaggio is regarded as something of a "metropolis" in the central area of the Lake. Especially in the summer, the town becomes a cheerful holiday resort, making it an ideal choice for the young and all those looking for a more active sort of holiday. There is an excellent range of sports: watersports based in the tourist port, rock climbing, riding, tennis, basketball and volleyball.Golfers will enjoy the panoramic 18-hole course and lovers of trekking will find a wide range of well marked paths to suit all levels of ability. But Menaggio also offers artistic sights of particular interest: its churched ranging from the Romanesque to the Baroque, the old centre and several villas.
One curiosity not to be missed is the lening tower of S. Bartolomeo and Michele (12th century).
