For an attractive and pleasant view of a typical Larian town, a visit to Lierna is a must where, taking a little boat, you can go about a hundred metres out into the lake. You will be amazed by the imposing backdrop of the mountains and the delicate lacy border of the town in the foreground, streching along the lakeside. You can see the proud aristocratic villas forming a natural contrast to the austere church of S. Ambrogio, the small peninsula where you can make out the ruined tower of the Castle, the town walls along the lakeside, the steep stairway climbing up to Bancola. For a different viewpoint, now take one of the paths leading up to the upper villages and enjoy the relaxing sight of vineyards and olive groves, but try to resist the temptation to turn round until you reach the crest of the Lierna Alps. Now you can turn round and take in what is one of the most beautiful and evocative panoramas in the central area of the lake and along the whole eastern shore.
