Lenno is rather different from the other lakeside towns streched out along the water's edge, because it is almost hidden by a deep inlet between the promontory of Levedo and the headland of Portezza.

From here you can enjoy a unique view of the lake and Bellagio, but if you want to explore one of the most attractive points on the western shore, you can take a short boat-trip along the promontory, land at the far end and by entranced by the park of Villa Balbianello.

This "attractive retreat" was created by cardinal Durini in the 18th century and it is still one of the most beautiful and romantoc villas on the lake. It is now ownes by the FAI and is open to visitors.

If you prefer older sights, you can visit the deanary of S. Stefano and the Romanesque Baptistery, the church of S. Andrea (11th century), the Monastery of Acquafredda (12th century), the Santuario del Soccorso and the Sacred Mount.
