WHAT THE ISLAND OFFERS



The sea, for its abundance of fish and underwater beauty, attracts lovers od undersea fishing and subaqua photography to Pantelleria, whilst swimmers of all ages can enjoy its calm purity often heated by warm underwater currents.

But if the sea is the main attraction of Pantelleria it is not the only one. The island is o various and rich in surprises that it satisfies any desire. The passing of thrushes, woodcocks and turtle doves, which happens in autumn and spring, and the wild rabbit represent for the naturalists the possibility of delightful stays in contact with uncontaminated nature.

For archeologists and geologists the island is a mine of small treasures many of which are still to be discovered.

Tombs, cisterns, capitals, columns and various implements from Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine times are still use daily by agriculturalists with the greatest ease, amphora earthenware and crockery of ancient times are found everywhere.

Thanks to its vulcanic origins a large number of rocks and stones are to be founs from Pantellerite to Obsidian, from Cossirite to Lava and opal, quartz, etc.
